THE APPROVAL TRAP
Gotcha! is about the small trap of looking for validation online. You open an app for a moment, compare yourself with someone else, and keep scrolling in the hope that the next thing will make you feel better.
I wanted the work to catch your attention in the same way. Bright colour, playful collage and quick changes draw you in, while the animation points back to the habit itself.
The joke is familiar because I’m inside it too. It is easy to recognise the loop and still get caught.
OFF THE PHONE, INTO THE ROOM
Shown as a projection, this private screen habit became part of a shared space. People passed through the light, their bodies briefly becoming another layer of the collage.
That gave the work a new kind of immediacy: an animation about attention, surrounded by people deciding where to look and when to move on.
